Ndi Anambra urged to imbibe Easter lessons
… Let Christ rule your hearts – gov
GOVERNOR of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has urged Christians in the state and Nigeria to open up and allow Jesus Christ a free reign in their hearts this Easter and beyond.
Gov. Obiano made the call in a special Easter message released by his Chief Press Secretary, James Eze.
Suing for peace and love among Christian adherents and their neighbours as the greatest gift at the holy festival, the governor observed that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gave eternal victory to mankind.
According to him, when people allow Jesus to reign in their lives, people allow love, peace and happiness to bond them with others.
“When there’s peace in our hearts, there will be peace in the world because only a peaceful people can create a peaceful world,” he said.
Gov. Obiano also use the event to assure ndi Anambra that the state remained the safest and most peaceful state in Nigeria, pointing out that the era of public safety and prosperity that his administration ushered into the state over the past seven years would continue to grow from day to day.
He equally commended the Anambra police command for rising swiftly to the occasion by securing the release of Commissioner for Public Utilities, Emeka Ezenwanne, who was abducted by hoodlums during the recent attack on former Central Bank Governor (CBN), Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo at his Isuofia hometown.
“I pray for instant healing for the bereaved families and the survivors during the gunfight. As Nigeria’s safest state, our resolve will
always be tested by the criminal elements that we have put out of business; we have always come back stronger. `Public safety is tied to liberty and the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. We shall continue to stay awake to ensure that Ndi Anambra can sleep with both eyes closed,” Gov. Obiano continued.
The governor also promised that criminal elements behind the attack would be brought to book.
Similarly, Wife of Anambra State Governor and Founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has called on Anambra women to work hard to ensure that peace reigns in the state., especially during the Easter celebrations.
Mrs. Obiano made the plea in an Easter message released on her behalf by Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Anambra State Governor, Emeka Ozumba.
Urging people to pray for sustenance of peace and security in the state, the governor’s wife explained Easter as a culmination of passion signifying the sacrificial love of Christ for humankind.
“Mothers should derive inspiration from the role of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Christ and other women during the Passion of Christ, and be dedicated in prayers for the good of our families and our state, so that the miracle and love of the risen Christ will pervade our land. The God Almighty, who destined the state as the `Light of the Nation’ will continue to guide him successfully so that his passion and sacrifice in service of Anambra will not be in vain,” she said.
The statement also commended Gov. Obiano for his strength of character and restraint amid recent challenges.
