ANAMBRA State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Uche Okafor has allayed any fears of invasion of the state by hoodlums.
Speaking to newsman in Oromo- Etiti, Anambra West Local Government, the Trade and Commerce boss condemned recent spate of robbery, kidnapping, and touting noticeable in some parts of the state, while assuring that government is on top of the situation and will continue to make the state crime-free as it has been known for under Obiano’s administration.
“Let me remind you that this government has made tremendous achievements in security of life and property over the years. The recent surge in crime and criminality in the state is unfortunate and totally unacceptable to the government that has made its mark in excellent security system. Therefore, the fight is renewed and all criminals now threatening the peace of the state would leave the state to any other different location or be fished out and dealt with accordingly.”
The commissioner assured traders and investors coming into the state as well as indigenous business operators to keep faith in the ability of the government to deal decisively with criminal elements in the state, while urging all well meaning citizens and investors to go about their businesses without fear.
He regretted that the detestable activities of these hoodlums had affected a lot of socio-economic lives in the state in recent time.
“I can assure you that His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano in his usual non compromising stand on security is not taking anything for granted. The state has no tolerance for criminality. The noticeable pockets of crime in some areas of the state in recent time is simply unacceptable and will not be allowed to happen again.”
He charged ndi Anambra and residents in the state to identify with government and security agents to rid the state of this unwelcome development.
According to the commissioner, “all markets in the state are poised to provide better services to their customers. The structure has been there for long and we are leveraging on our potential to make all our partners feel satisfied with the system. No genuine business operator will be intimidated or forced out of business by any recalcitrant in any guise. We will not allow that to happen.” He assured.
