ANAMBRA State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has restated his administration’s commitment to motivation of selfless and diligent police officers and other security agents who discharge their duties with professionalism and dedication.

  Gov. Obiano stated this in his country home at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area while decorating the newly-promoted police convoy commanders attached to him and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano with their new ranks, yesterday.

  The governor  and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Ebelechukwu decorated the two officers.

  According to the governor, Anambra will continue to reward deserving officers in the security architecture of the state as part of his administration’s strategic investment in the sector.

   The two officers are convoy commander attached to the governor, Toro Muhammed, who was promoted from Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and the convoy commander attached the governor’s wife, Casmir Afoejuonwu, who was also promoted in the same manner. Both of them were deployed from Special Protection Unit (SPU) and Police Mobile Force respectively.

  The governor also offered immediate employment to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ikechukwu Nome, who retired yesterday after 35 years of service.

  Nome has served in different security positions since the inception of the present administration as commander in charge of guard duty, governor’s convoy and commander in charge of police surveillance team at Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri.

  Meanwhile, the new offensive against criminal elements that recently attempted to foist insecurity and lawlessness in Anambra State is yielding desired fruits through round-the-clock security and safety in every community.

  Special Adviser to Gov. Willie Obiano on Creative Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (Rtd) stated this while fielding questions from newsmen .

   Chiobi called on ndi Anambra not to nurse any fear while going about their lawful businesses as the governor’s security architecture and master plan will continue to rise above challenges in its track record as Nigeria’s best security model.

  He also said that Gov. Obiano will not relent in his commitment to making Anambra the safest and most secure state all over the federation, adding that Gov. Obiano has provided adequate logistics for ceaseless crackdown on criminal hideouts by joint team of military, police, civil defence and vigilante operatives.

  Also speaking on the renewed offensive against criminals, Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Monday Kuryas disclosed that he has mandated Divisional Police Officers, Police Mobile Force personnel and other tactical teams to step up surveillance of public spaces in the state.

Kuryas stated that the order was given after his meeting with Gov. Obiano at Government Lodge, Awka.

  According to him, the command has launched intensive patrol of parks, major roads and highways as well as markets.

  He promised that these strategies will cement or sustain the normalcy which has returned after the recent security breach, adding that crucial arrests have been made and those arrested giving useful information on their activities and sponsors.
