… Obiano assures airport will be functional in April
DIRECTOR-GENERAL of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Nuhu Musa has extolled the commitment of Anambra state Government to a successful completion of the ongoing Anambra International Airport, Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area.
Musa gave the commendation yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen during an inspection visit to the airport project in company of Gov. Willie Obiano and other senior officials of the aviation regulatory agency.
Describing the governor’s commitment to the project as a demonstration of genuine intention of leaving an enduring legacy through peerless governance, Musa also said that Gov. Obiano’s investments to the project are exemplary because everything is going very smooth despite hard economic realities occasioned by the global pandemic, when other states are twitching on life support.
According to him, with the level of compliance to standards, Anambra state has demonstrated that they mean business.
While ranking the control tower and other facilities among the best of their kind in the country, Captain Musa stressed that all facilities needed in a standard airport are in place in the project.
Pointing out that when completed the airport will be a significant enabler of economic development in the area, he called on Anambra people to continue supporting the governor in order to derive more dividends of good governance for his administration..
Responding, Gov. Obiano reassured that the airport will be functional by next month.
According to the governor, the contractors are leaving nothing to chance in their mandate to deliver on time, but they will build an airport that is second to none.
