… Oye, others urge ndi Anambra to complement govt’s efforts
IN A move to continue advancing to smart and global standard, Anambra State Government has unveiled the Awka Capital City Street Naming project.
The event, which was held on Wednesday, at Awka South Local Government Area Headquarters, was presided over by the National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, Dr. Victor Oye, who described Gov. Obiano as a selfless leader who in seven years in office, has done excellently well in all indices used to measure his performance and charged ndi Anambra to always support all the efforts of the government to do more.
In his reaction after receiving award of the road named after him, the Media Consultant to the Secretary General of Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries ( OPEC), Chief NduUghamadu, who was represented by the President of Rotary Club of Awka, UNZIK, Rtr. Abuchi Nwozor thanked the state government for finding him worthy to be given such award and assured to respond positively to the award given.
On his part, the Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency and National Chairman of Willie Obiano’s Support Group, Chief Jude Emecheta, expressed satisfaction over the initiative by the state government gearing towards upgrading socio-economic development of the state and promoting industrial development, maintaining that Gov. Obiano, being a visionary leader, has not only considered the present need of ndi Anambra but has also been futuristic and pragmatic in making the state better.
Similarly, the Project Consultant while eulogising the state government for the numerous and tremendous achievements done within the last seven years in administration, called on ndi Anambra to cue into the street naming and also work together in accomplishing the set goals.
“What we are trying to do is happening in most cities of the world. We want every house in Anambra to have a distinct number serially done for easy identification through use of google map to enable people find way to everywhere they are going. We are trying to use Awka as a model from which Onitsha, Nnewi and other cities will be done too. Our awardees were chosen because of their impact in the state and nation generally. There will be several other streets to be named in subsequent approval but now, we have 15 industrious sons of Anambra and Igboland,” he said.
The Transition Chairman of Awka South Local Government, Sir Leo Nwuba pointed out that the objectives of the digital street naming include to re-arrange the streets to meet the world class, digitally map the building and streets for easy identification using Google, e- commerce, better response during security coverages, fire outbreak and other emergencies while it will be also beneficial in the transport system like Uber and taxify.
