COVID-19 vaccine arrives Anambra today


ALL is set for the arrival of the first batch of the coronavirus vaccine in Anambra State today.

The Executive Secretary of Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHDA) and leader of Anambra State Technical Working Group for COVID-19 Vaccination, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu, disclosed this while speaking at a sensitisation session with traditional rulers in Awka.

Dr. Ezenyimulu said that frontline health workers will be the first to be vaccinated.

According to her, government is holding a sensitisation of traditional rulers to equip them in helping to sensitise their subjects in their various communities.

Describing the vaccine as safe, Dr. Ezenyimulu also revealed that people above 60 years of age and those with underlying or terminal medical issues will be the second group to get vaccinated.

In a vote of thanks, the traditional ruler of Isseke, Igwe Emma Nnabuife who spoke on behalf of Ndi Igwe, thanked the team for the sensitisation and pledged the support of his colleagues to make the vaccination a successful one.
