ONE Dr Okey Chidolue, Wednesday, laid the foundation stone of the first Kidney Transplant Centre in the South-East Geopolitical Zone of the country in Nnewi, Anambra State.
It was learnt that the hospital, a private initiative of Dr Chidolue, who hails from Nnewi, would be completed before the end of the year.
The hospital is expected to address all kidney-related problems including dialysis and kidney transplant.
Located in Edoji, Uruagu-Nnewi, the hospital would be a boost to the rising medical prowess of Nnewi as a town.
The industrial city of Anambra State already has the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, which according to a former President, West African College of Surgeons, Prof Okechukwu Mbonu, serving the Southeast that lacked medical infrastructure in Nigeria in terms of addressing kidney-related diseases.
He had noted that incidences of the disease were high in the region.
