A’Ibom community in Anambra urges adherence to COVID-19 protocols

PRESIDENT, Akwa Ibom Community, Anambra State Chapter, Edet Solomon Akparawa has enjoined the general public to adhere to COVID-19 protocols in order to survive the second wave of the pandemic.

Akparawa made the call while addressing members of Akwa Ibom community during its monthly general meeting held in Awka.

According to him, COVID-19 is a reality which has disrupted the day-to-day lives of people all over the world.

Even though not many cases were recorded in the state, it does not mean it did not exist.

“I want to let all Ndi Akwa Ibom and Ndi Anambra know the truth about COVID-19; its existence is real.”

The fact that the state had not recorded many cases then, appears to give the people a wrong impression that COVID-19 was not real.

He implored all Akwa Ibom people residing in the state to adhere strictly to government directives of wearing their face masks while in public places, wash their hands frequently, maintain social distancing as well as avail themselves the opportunity of undergoing testing to certify them COVID-19 free.

The president also applauded the level of compliance to safety protocols instilled by Gov. Willie Obiano and the Ministry of Health to ensure that there was no spike in the state.
