
OVER 185,000 households are in the social register for the poorest and vulnerable and 8,313 are benefiting in cash transfer programme from the various National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).
This was disclosed in Awka at the flag off training of independent monitors for the lntregrated National Social Investment Programme by Bede Okoli, who represented the Anambra State Focal person, NSIP, Mrs Chinwe Iwuchukwu.
He said many vulnerable ndi Anambra have benefited from the NSIP scheme of the federal government and assured that Anambra State Government would continue to benefit from the programme.
I’m his own remarks, a director in the ministry, Mr Ralph Obi , representing the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs , Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, said about 13,000,000 citizens across 36 states of the federation and Abuja have benefited from the programme.
He urged the monitors to go about their duties with utmost honesty and sincerity. Also, he assured that the independent monitors would be assigned to monitor the programme beneficiaries within their locality, in schools, households and market clusters in order to ensure that the primary objectives of the programmes were achieved.
The minister again promised that the ministry would supervise all the activities of the programme at the state level.
He further warned that the ministry would suspend any monitor that violates the terms of engagement.
In another remark, the Director, National Orientation Agency in the state, Charles Nwoji ,asked the independent monitors to be honest and sincere in carrying out their duties for positive results.
