THE newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Cp Phillip Ogbaudu Aliyu has paid a courtesy visit to the NDLEA command to cultivate a good working relationship with the agency.
Cp Ogbaudu was received at the NDLEA State Command by the State Commander Buba Wakawa; Peter Ogah, Assistant State Commander Operations/Intelligence; Suleiman Usman, Assistant State Commander Admin/Logistics and other principal officers of the command.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by his DCP, Millah Datawaye, along with other principal officers said that his visit, in line with his programmes was to elicit good working relationship with the security agencies as well as stakeholders in the State.
He, however, sympathised with the command for the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest.
It would be recalled that the NDLEA State Command was set ablaze by the #EndSARS protesters who vandalised and carted away the office logistics/equipment, broke into the exhibit ware- containers and hauled away from its contents including bags of Cannabis Sativa.
They also burnt down the official tactical bus along with other exhibit vehicles and broke into and freed all the suspects in their official detention prisons.
In his response; the NDLEA Commander, Com. BubaWakawa welcomed the new CP and stressed the need to work as a team in the fight against drug abuse and crime in the state.
Commander Wakawa said the aftermath of #EndSARS protest would not by any means stop them from carrying out their duties as a law enforcement agency.
Although still operating under the dilapidated premise, the commander said that they were looking onto the government for a befitting quarter to carry their duties optimally.
