GOVERNMENT of Anambra State has promised to continue offering relevant support for the development of schools in the state.
Head of Service, Harry Udu, gave the assurance to the Executive Committee of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), who paid him a visit in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
The civil service boss urged the school heads never to relent in the discharge of their duties so that the standard that Anambra was known for in education in the country and beyond would be maintained.
He reminded them that their efforts must be doubled at this time that the world was being bedeviled with the lethal coronavirus.
“Ensure that whatsoever meager resources provided at this time should be used judiciously and channeled effectively for the continued maintenance of safe learning conditions in schools in Anambra State.
“You should also work closely with the commissioner for education so that your requests could be channeled properly to the governor, who is always keen on matters concerning the state education sector.”
President of ANCOPSS, Anambra Chapter and Principal of Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka, Jovita Arazu, thanked the HOS for remaining supportive of the group.
He commended the government of Anambra State under the leadership of Gov. Willie Obiano for sustaining the high standards of education in Anambra, which had kept maintaining its leading position.
Mr Arazu, however, called for more of government support to the sector so as to keep schools at their best performances, especially during this pandemic period
“I want to beg for an upward review of the monthly allowance to schools because schools now run on double costs since the advent of coronavirus pandemic.”
