THE Anambra state Police yesterday paraded a two-man syndicate for involvement in swindling unsuspecting members of the public of their hard-earned money.
The parade took place at the Onitsha Area Command.
The suspects who were identified as Ifeanyi Mmadu and Linus Onyekwere from Imo state claimed they have separate non-governmental organisations respectively.
They were alleged to have duped one Mr. Emmanuel Nnonyelum, a retiree, the sum of N1,460, 000 in September 2020, through a shoddy business deal in which they claim they have a business with former President Goodluck Jonathan
The victim said Mmadu is his neighbour in Onitsha, whom he approached for a help to invest some part of his pension money and they promised to give him dividends but he was swindled.
Similarly, the Area Command Onitsha in collaboration with Okpoko Police Division also paraded 16 suspects for involvement in illegal revenue collection.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, disclosed this to newsmen while parading the suspects, saying they were rounded up in some points following complaints from residents of Onitsha.
According to Mohammed, the suspects have been defrauding people of their money under the pretext of collecting revenues for the state government.
