ANAMBRA State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, and an Nnewi-born captain of industry, Cletus Ibeto and the three senators from Anambra State are among dignitaries expected to grace the posthumous launch of a book written by late Col. Emmanuel Nwobosi (rtd).
Others are immediate past President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, indigenous automobile manufacturer, Innocent Chukwuma, former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo and one-time Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode who is the book reviewer.
The event which comes up today in Awka, is part of activities commencing the funeral ceremony of the departed war veteran who at a point in his military career was Gen. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s aide d’ camp (ADC).
A funeral programme signed by his son, Emmanuel Nwobosi (Jr) stated that today was also slated for tributes and eulogies in honour of the deceased elder statesman.
According to the release, a burial mass will hold in honour of the fallen heroe at St. John’s Catholic Church, Obosi, tomorrow, to be followed by internment and entertainment of guests at Obosi Girls Field, along School of Health Technology, Obosi.
It will be recalled that Col. Nwobosi participated in Major Nzeogwu-led military coup of January 15, 1966, as well as serving as one of the pioneers that set up First Field Battery of Nigerian Army Artillery. After his retirement, Nwobosi lived in his hometown of Obosi in Idemmili North Local Government Area where he died on November 24, 2020.
