THE remains of the late Oba S.O Mbanefo have been laid to rest.
Aged 82, he was buried in his home in Umudiana, Ekwenanyika Village, Nri, Anaocha LGA, Anambra State.
The late S. O Mbanefo died on October 26,2020 and is survived by his two wives, 12 children and 37 grandchildren.
HIS first wife, Mrs Susanna Mbanefo said “losing you took everything from me but still, I am comforted by you through our children.” She described her late husband as a man of empathy to helpless strangers.
His second wife, Mrs Rose Mbanefo said “my husband taught me how to conquer the world and he was my comforter in times of distress.
Mr Ikechukwu Mbanefo, the first son and second child described his late father as an intellectual who was always ready to impact knowledge on people.
The last child and National Light staff, who is a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Obiano, Obioma Mbanefo, described his father as a man of principles who always sided with righteousness. He maintained that his father was the greatest role model a young man could ever have.
Staffers of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, publishers of National Light, Ka O Di Taa and SportslightXTRA newspapers were among the numerous groups that paid a condolence visit to the family.
MD and CEO of ANPC, Sir Chuka Nnabuife in his condolence message stated that the Igbo tribe has lost a significant voice.
He said: “The late S. O Mbanefo was a man of culture and tradition and his contribution to our race has never been unnoticed; for he was a significant figure in all aspects of life.” He confessed to be an admirer of his wisdom and encouraged the family to continue to uphold the legacy of the deceased.
