CATHOLIC Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Peter Okpaleke , National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Oye Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Newspapers and printing Corporation(ANPC), Publisher of National Light, Ka O Di Taa and SportlightXTRA newspapers, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, Sunday, received awards for exceptional quality service delivery to God and humanity, from Knights of St. John International (KSJI) and Ladies Auxiliary of Commandery 434 and LAUX 363.
Others honoured at the occasion of harvest thanksgiving, celebration of longevity, reception of accomplished personalities and award honours to distinguished members of the Knights , termed ‘the triple conviviality’, held at at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, include Senator Uche Ekwunife , the Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu, represented by Dr. Frank Umeh the Director, Community Health Services of the agency, Director, Fides Media Limited, Reverend Father Martin Anusi, the traditional ruler of Eziowelle, Igwe Mike Etusi and Onowu Eziowelle, Obi John Akukwe, among others.
Speaking during the Pontifical Mass that kicked off the celebration, Bishop Okpalaeke, reminded the knights and the congregation the essence of gratitude to God and mankind.
“Today is the last Sunday of our preparation for Christmas, the feast which commemorates the birth of Christ. This word of St Paul has been selected in order to summarise all about Christmas. In his infinite love and mercy in the scripture, God the Father sent his beloved son in human nature to live among us to tell us of the father’s love and plans so that those who have fallen short of the his word can turn their way back to Christ”.
Mother of the Day, Senator Uche Ekwunife, pledged her support to the order.“I am the product of grace and so no investment that is being made in church is too small or big because the more you invest, the more blessing you get from God….”
In a welcome address, the Worthy President of Commandery 434 KSJI, Captain Raphael Nwike, traced the history of the Knighthood, appealed to everyone to generously donate to Commandery 434 and LAUX 363 to enable them purchase a bus or buses for the operation of the order.
Chairman of the occasion, Sunday Oyego expressed gratitude to God for making the Order promote ideals of knighthood through the event, while urging the awardees to always propagate God’s evangelism.
Chairman Planning and Organising Committee, KSJI, Sir Denis Ekemezie , noted that the projection has three dimensions.” One is to thank God for enabling all of us to have survived the pressure this year has brought to the people, economic recession, COVID – 19 pandemic, #EndSARS, among others. Secondly, to promote the ideas of knighthood and to celebrate our pioneer members of KSJI who have stayed more than 40 years and lastly, to request from members of the public to assist the Kighthood, not only KSJI because this is a lay apostolate of the church which is part of the evangelism and by so doing we will be able to promote the ideas of Christianity and the Christ-like life which is the main body of knighthood”.
