The first Direct General of National Orientation Agency(NOA), which is the defunct Directorate for Social Mobilisation( MAMSER) in the old Anambra and former Pro Chancellor, Anambra State University, now Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof. Elochukwu Amucheazi buried his younger brother, Chief Emmanuel Okechukwu Amucheazi in his country home Mgbuke in Umunnachi, Anambra state.
In his homily during the funeral service, the Vicar of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Lious Ezenwata awakened the minds of the congregation on the need to reconcile with God, give their lives to Christ as to enable them inherit the kingdom of God on the last day.
The vicar while explaining the transient nature of life expressed that death is an inevitable passage to an eternal life which all mortal pay the ultimate price.
Continuing, Ven. Ezenwata prayed God to grant a peaceful rest to Mr. Emmanuel O. Amucheazi and also admonished his children to always find solace in God.
Prof. Amucheazi described his immediate younger brother as a loving, benevolent gentle and well organised man, who was ever determined to serve people and highly interested in the welfare of fellow human beings without any barriers.
” We lost a great soul, he was indeed a rare gem that is why everybody is grieving and unhappy about his death. Despite that he was literally lying on bed, he was still caring for people. He put people first and people love him very well.
We try all we could, we didn’t want him to die, but there was nothing we could do, as it is the will of God. The family greatly miss him”.
One of his son, Mr. Chiwuzie Amucheazi expressed that his father always thought about every one irrespective of status, have positive story about people, have something to give without being asked, loved without conditions, wore a smile even in pain, among others and promised to walk in the good legacy which he left behind.
The sister of the deceased , Mrs Harriet Okoye, noted that his brother lived a life worthy of emulation, while describing him as man of the people
