In Delta, 13-yr-old boy shot dead, 2 injured



A MEMBER of vigilante group in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State has shot dead a 13- year- old boy, Monday Okpara and injured two others.

National Light gathered that trouble started on Monday, when a landlord invited vigilante to arrest his tenant over receiving visitors.

A source in the community told our correspondent on the condition of anonymity that the young tenant was adamant over the threat of the landlord on the ground that the landlord cannot dictate who visits him after paying his rent.

“The landlord brought the vigilante who arrested the tenant and took him to their office.On that process, the tenant called his friends, who came to the vigilant office to solve the situation.While the tenant was inside the office with some vigilante men, one of the members of the vigilante engaged the three friends outside and before we know it, he released bullets on them, killing one  13- year-old on the spot, while the two others were left injured.

“The dead one is 13 years while the 17-year old and one other got injured. As I speak to you, one is receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba. The vigilante man that shot them is currently on the run as the Police have begun a manhunt for him,” the source narrated.

When contacted, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident, adding that the vigilante man is still at large.

The PPRO said: “The information we got is that he was having scuffing with somebody and so fired shot from his bump-action and stray bullets hit three persons, one died and two are critically injured, receiving treatment at hospital right now.
