A CALL has gone to Anambra State Government to make the existing traffic light in Nnewi functional.
Chairman, New Auto Spare Parts Association (NASPA), Obinna Okechukwu, made the call from his office in Nnewi.
He said that Nnewi urban commands huge industries, factories and agro-based ventures which attract daily complex movement.
Okechukwu, who commended Governor Obiano’s administration on infrastructure and welfare packages felt that effective repair and installation of more traffic lights in Nnewi will reduce the bottle-neck traffic jam at strategic areas in the town such as St. Mary’s Cathedral Junction, Ibeto-Bank Road Junction.
He regretted that the only existing traffic light at Nnewi-Nnobi-Izuchukwu Junction has not been working and needs immediate re-handling to effect movement to Awka, Ekwulobia, Onitsha and Ozubulu-Ihiala route.
He used the opportunity to commend the versatile journalism National Light Newspapers Awka has dispensed through combination of Igbo colour prints (KaOdiTaa) and main Newspaper outfit which is rare in our country’s Newspaper industries. He said that the innovation the management but to its outlay as the existing Government Newspaper South East of the country is applaudable.
The NASPA boss finally advised motorists to drive with caution now the rains are heavy when the roads are slippery and at times flooded.
The Ember months, he concluded, needed cautions motoring especially from commercial vehicle drivers.
