A CURRENT affairs analyst, C.C. Martins Ndufekwu, has said that the advanced construction work at ongoing Second Niger Bridge has remained laudable in view of the fact that the project had been over flogged by the past administration.
Chief Martins who is a political chieftain observed that the present Niger Bridge has cracked pitiably that motorists experience hard times during festive periods like Christmas, New Year and Easter .
He said that the present Nigeria Bridge was constructed when there were no heavy trucks and trailers while the ongoing Second Nigeria Bridge is being built to accommodate all brands of vehicles.
He used the opportunity to call on the federal government to follow it up with dredging of River Niger and Benue River, so that ships can navigate there and berth at Onitsha which is the commercial nerve center of the country to minimise the process of clearing goods in Port Harcourt, Lagos, Warri, and Calabar, respectively.
