Man kills, buries father in shallow grave in Orumba

Umuomaku Community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State was over the weekend, thrown into deep mourning following the alleged murder of one Elder Christopher Ogum, 70, by his 26-year-old son, Chisom Ogum.

  Eye-witness account stated that the suspect ran amuck in a circumstance yet to be ascertained, attacked, killed and buried his father immediately.

Confirming the development, the state police image maker, Haruna Mohammed, said the incident took place on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at about 6am, stressing that Police operatives attached to Umunze Division, in collaboration with a local vigilante group arrested the man after several attempts.

According to him, the suspect made attempt to escape before he was apprehended and manhandled by an angry mob who forced him to exhume the body of his father.

He stated that detectives visited the scene of the crime, took photograph of the victim and took the corpse to the mortuary at Umunze General Hospital.

National Light gathered that the house has been abandoned according to the tradition of the area until some cleansing is performed in the house.
