OBA community in Idemili South Local Government Area has called on Anambra State Government to complete the construction of Umuoji-Oba -Akwu Ukwu Road.
They made the plea during the funeral rites of the late Chief Godson Udoh Egbenadiji, a cabinet Member of Igwe Eze Okpoko Oba.
Egbenadiji was brother of a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Obiano on Political Matters, Idemili South, Mr Ebele Ejikeme and father of Mr Ifeanyi Udoh, an Executive Assistant to Governor Obiano on Youth Mobilisation.
Chairman, Oba Political Forum, Mr Ogonna Ndozie said that the road remained a major access road used by not less than 90 per cent of Oba residents.
Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, said that Gov. Willie Obiano had promised to tar at least 1km of the road within Oba and construct the bridge linking Umuoji and Oba adding that it could be completed after the rains.
Also, a member of the Igwe’s cabinet, Chief Ufondu Obi eulogised the governor on his achievements, saying that Oba people were counting on him not to disappoint them.
Transition Councilor, Oba Ward 1, Mr Ebuka Chibueze, assured that nothing would hinder the completion of the road.
Meanwhile, Youth Leader, Oba Zone E, Mr Charles Agha, in a tribute, described the late Udoh as a peace loving gentleman who had advised youths to desist from illegal land grabbing.
Mr Okechukwu Ugwunze, a nephew to the bereaved was nostalgic about his uncle describing him as a person, who stood for the truth.
According to Mr Ebele Ejikeme, a lawyer, “my late brother was my best friend, confidant and adviser”.
The deceased’s eldest son, Mr Ifeanyi Udoh, also thanked the visitors for finding time to commiserate with the family.
Dignitaries at the funeral include Sen. Uche Ekwunife, former House of Representative Member, Mr Ifeanyi Ibezi and Member, representing Idemili South in Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Chuka Ezenwunne and Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje of Umunya.
