Three allegedly shot dead in Onitsha
GUNMEN on Monday stormed Nkpor community in Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, shooting three persons dead.
The incident which occurred along Umuoji /Nkpor road in the early hours of the evening stired pandamonium as people scampared in different directions for safety.
Eye witness account, Ikechukwu Ojiugwu said the victims were rounded up in a restaurant along Umuoji Nkpor Road by two unidentified gunmen who alighted from Mercedes Benz car un-noticed and shot at their targets at close range.
According to Ojiugwu, “nobody can ascertain at present those behind the attack and their motive, though everything looks on the surface level like inter cult rivalry as two out of the three dead men identified as Chaplet and Playboy were believed to be members of cult group.”
Another eye witness account who spoke to National Light under anonymity said, the three men are allegedly notorious for robbing unsuspecting citizens of their belongings in the area.
When National Light called the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed for confirmation, he promised to provide information as soon as he was through with the DPO in the area.
