AN ANAMBRA-BASED Non-Governmental Organisation, Great Soludo Patriots, has made a passionate appeal to the federal government to integrate the state into the mainstream of an oil-producing state to enable it benefit optimally from the 13th oil derivation funds like every other oil-producing states in the country.
The Director General of the nongovernmental organisation, Obiajulu Nwoye, made the appeal during a function organised by the organisation at the headquarters of Oyi Local Government Area, Nteje, Anambra State.
Comrade Nwoye who recalled that the Anambra State Orient Petroleum PlC, which made Anambra an oil producing state, was commissioned by the former president of the country, Goodluck Jonathan, called on the senators and the members of House of Representatives from Anambra State to join forces with Governor Willie Obiano in ensuring the integration of the state into the mainstream of an oil-producing state in the country.
While commending Governor Obiano on the on-gong massive construction work on the bridge which links Nzam and Mmiata Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area, Nwoye said that the bridge when completed, would no doubt enhance the achievement of the National Food Security Projects of the federal government in the state since most of the communities in the area are predominantly farmers.
The NGO director general, who noted that Governor Obiano had through his developmental projects which scattered all over the state, took the state to a pride of the nation, equally appealed to the governor to work towards constructing the road which links Awka North and Ayamelum Local Government Areas through Oba-Ofemili with a bridge on the Ezu river, stressing that linking up the two local government areas who are also agrarian, would drastically boost the state economic base.
In his remarks while receiving the leadership of the organisation, who called on him on arrival, the Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Local Government Area, Dr Nnamdi Nwadiogbu, expressed satisfaction with the well -articulated programmes of the organisation, pointing out that the state needs a person with impeccable character and unquestionable qualifications that would take over from Governor Obiano to entrench spirit of continuity in the ongoing massive development in the state.
