NIGERIA’S Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, yesterday in Abuja said he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The minister disclosed this yesterday after announcing that Nigerians evacuated from France, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Norway, Germany, Holland, UK and Canada all tested negative before boarding for Nigeria on Sunday.
According to the minister, the test was his fourth since the pandemic broke out.
Tweeting on his Instagram handle, Onyeama stated, ”did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! You win some, you lose some. I will be heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best.” His tweet reads.
Coronavirus cases in Nigeria have risen to 36,107 with 653 new infections, according to figures late Saturday from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Six new deaths were recorded in the West African nation, bringing the total to 778.
