WITH the rampant cases of child molestation via rape, General Overseer of the Bible Base Miracle Assembly, Nkpor, in Idemili North council area, Rev. Jerry Nwachukwu has recommended life jail term for rape culprits to serve as deterrent to others who might thinker with such and similar devilish acts.
He advocated for a law that will make it compulsory for offenders to be sentenced to life jail term if found guilty.
Speaking to newsmen at Nkpor on this and other issues in the country, Rev. Nwachukwu expressed disgust with the rampant cases of rape across the country, particularly this period of COVID 19 pandemic, noting that it is high time government come out strong to checkmate the dangerous trend through proper efforts of the various agencies put in place to checkmate the problem across the country.
On Covid-19 preventive measures by the federal government and security situation in the country, the Cleric gave kudos to federal government recount decision to unlock inter-state movement policy, as well as other measures on prevention of covid-19, but disagreed with government on continuous closure of schools, noting that schools should be reopened and stern directives on prevention of Covid-19 issued for them to abide to, adding that non-reopening of schools throughout the country is causing a lot of damages to the nation youths than the Covid-19 pandemic.
On security, he said, “the truth is that Nigeria is no longer safe, everywhere including the president’s home state, katsina is facing security challenges, my advice for the president is for him to sack all serving security chiefs or they should resign for new security architecture to take over security of the nation”.
