FCT Police Command has arrested one Bello Saleh, of Dobi village, who has been on police wanted persons’ list for culpable homicide and kidnapping.
The suspect, Bello Saleh, in the company of his gang members shot and killed one Ejike Idoko of Dobi village after he prevented them from kidnapping his pregnant wife.
According to a press statement signed by DSP Anjuguri Manzah, Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect who is a notorious kidnapper was arrested at his hideout in Paiko Kore village of Gwagwalada Area Council, after a painstaking manhunt by police operatives.
“Efforts are being intensified to arrest other members of the gang and recover firearms used by the gang for their criminal activities.
“Meanwhile, the command wishes to reaffirm its commitment to the protection of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory,” the PPRO noted.
In a related development, Justice Ibrahim Watilat of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has on Monday, jailed four internet fraudsters for criminal impersonation.
The convicts: Wariz Akintunde; Moses Olamilekan Dosumu, Richard Adegbite and Smith Enitan Adetayo, according to a press release by Dele Oyewale , Head, Media and Publicity, were prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan zonal office.
With all pleading guilty, the judge sentenced Akintunde and Adegbite to four months in prison, with an option of N100,000 each effective from June 22, 2020. Dosumu earned two months jail term with an option of N50,000, while Adetayo was sentenced to five months in prison without an option of fine, effective from June 22, 2020.
The judge further ordered Akintunde, Dosumu and Adetayo to restitute the sum of $700, $375 and N39,000 to their respective victims through the Federal Government of Nigeria.
