Ignore people who consider COVID-19 pandemic a scam – Akpo PG
PRESIDENT-General, Akpo Development Association, Henry C. Dim has called on Ndi Akpo to ignore those who refer to coronavirus pandemic a scam.
“This is a disease that has unfortunately been ravaging the world.”
Nze Dim made the call while interacting with Information Officers at Akpo.
“It is stupid for anybody to say that coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world is a scam.
“Existence of disease that has claimed many lives across the globe ought to have been a reality to every normal mind.
“Those that see it as government’s official ploy to siphon public funds are day dreamers and agents in the hands of the devil to destroy human race.
“COVID-19 pandemic is a reality. It is here with us killing without measure. Let us join hands together in fighting it,” remarked Nze Dim.
He noted that government stood to gain nothing by compelling people to put on their face masks; it serves as a means of protection from the disease.
“I wonder why people walk from their houses to church without putting on their face masks. This is disobedience to orders of government of the day.
“God is principled. You cannot work in disobedience to the authority of man, especially in humanitarian services and claim to be working in obedience to God.
“It is the strength of horizontal relationship that determines strength of vertical relationship.
“Obey government directives by putting on face masks as you go out; distance yourself from one another with about two metres in between.
“Avoid crowded places; wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap under running water. Ensure you have a bottle of hand sanitiser in your pocket or purse.
“It is not being done to help government but to protect our lives and those of our loved ones,” he stressed.
Nze Dim said he was sad at priests and pastors, who celebrate Mass or conduct church services or fellowships without putting on face masks.
“When a pastor is not putting on face mask, he is indirectly telling his members to do so, as action speaks louder than voice.
“Churches ought to partner government in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The PG commended government’s initiative of taking the fight to communities through the traditional rulers, president’s-generals and councilors.
“I wish government grants us some rights to enforce some regulation. I will not hesitate to close down any church that does not comply with safety measures outlined to fight COVID-19 pandemic in my community,” he said.
He maintained that If people cooperate in the fight, coronavirus would be defeated within a very short time.
