RESIDENTS of Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State have been thrown into mourning following the death of a middle aged man who was reportedly murdered by his wife and set him ablaze over issues boarding on ‘Will’.
National Light gathered that trouble started few weeks ago when the deceased, Uwebunor, who hails from Obankpa Community in Delta State built a house on the land he bought from Issele-Uku community.
According to the source, the deceased had a child from another woman before staying together with the present wife, Veronica,
who hails from Abakiliki in Ebonyi State.
“The wife had earlier approached the husband last Tuesday asking him to prepare his will to ensure her children benefit more from his inheritance. She feared that the son of the first wife, 23 years of age might take over the building after the demise of the deceased.
“The present wife who has three children from the deceased is not legally married to the man as no bride price was paid, that was her fear.
National Light further gathered that the issue of ‘Will’ was taken lightly by Uwebunor as he abandoned the idea, not knowing the woman was planning evil over the matter.
The source continued, “late on Tuesday night, as Uwebunor was fast asleep, the woman hit him with hard object on his head and proceeded to stab him on the neck to make sure he did not survive before pouring kerosene on him and set him ablaze. In fact we are confused at the extent of the crime”. Confirming the tragedy, the Police Image Maker, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeye said the woman had been arrested, stressing that the on-going investigations would determine the extent of her involvement in the murder.
