A WORD of caution has gone to states that think they are ensconced to brace up as the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will spread to all parts of the country.
Director-General of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, gave the caution today dropped this revealed why some states in Nigeria are yet to record any case of Coronavirus.
According to him, states yet to record coronavirus index cases have not submitted samples for tests.
Ihekweazu said the virus will get to all parts of Nigeria, adding that agency expects “every state to submit a certain number of samples for testing every day.
We have seen that some states have not submitted a single sample.” But he warned that state governors need to be honest with themselves to carry out necessary tests in their state to make sure the menace is curbed early enough.
It will be recalled that there are 10 states in Nigeria that are yet to record even a single case of the deadly virus while the remaining 26 states have a combined total of 981 confirmed cases.
