Members of the 7th Anambra State House of Assembly have combined forces against the dreaded virus called Covid19 .
The lawmakers decided to form a formidable force against the contagion, when the state assembly enacted a law on the establishment and enforcement of measures to prevent and stop the spread of coronavirus and other dangerous infectious diseases. To ensure appropriate provision of healthcare,welfare and corrective measures to provide for connected matters .
Speaking on the resolutions of the state assembly to confront the situation, Edward Obiefuna Ibuzo , the representative of Onitsha-North 2 state constituency stated that the law was a timely response to the current emergency situation posed by the coronavirus in the state.
Ibuzo who explained that the coronavirus pandemic is like a war zone where people die randomly without gunshots, noted that the objectives of the law clearly defined the purpose it has come to serve.
He said people were currently apprehensive of one another due to the scourge of Covid19 virus but according to him , the law would help to prevent further spread of the didease in the state .
Pharm Obinna Chris Emeneka representing Anambra-East state constituency also harped on why the state assembly took the fight against coronavirus to the point where a legislation should back efforts geared towards controlling spread of the disease.
Emeneka explained that the aim of the law can not be overstressed especially as it relates to the best possible ways to avoid contact with the virus and its prevention .
He said Governor Willie Obiano deserved commendations for the measures he put in place to prevent the virus from entering Anambra state before it eventually recorded its index case.
The lawmaker who stated that the legislation was a bold step in the right direction , thanked the governor for introducing it to the House and equally emphasized that the Covid19 epidemic is a time to show an uncommon affection to one another .
He said that with the passage of the bill into law , lawmakers have given their complete support to all efforts targeted at ensuring that the coronavirus does not rear its ugly head again in the state.
On his part , the lawmaker representing Orumba-North state constituency , Hon.Emeka Aforka said that the law would help to strengthen the fight against coronavirus in Anambra state.
