Widows , Indigents Receive Covid19 Palliatives In Ogbaru Two Constituency



Over 2000 widows , Indigents and other vulnerable groups have received food items and other palliatives in Ogbaru 2 state constituency of Anambra state .

The palliatives given to the beneficiaries which were carefully sourced from the 15 communites of the constituency, were intended to alleviate the sufferings of the people posed on them by the lockdown order as a result of the coronavirus pandemic .

Distributing the items at Atani , the benefactor , Hon.Somtochukwu Udeze , who is also the lawmaker representing Ogbaru 2 state constituency in the state assembly said the total shutdown of activities have taken a toll on the people especially those he described as incapacitated group of persons in the area .

Speaking further on the essence of the palliative measures taken to reduce the burden of the lockdown order on the people of Ogbaru 2 state constituency , the lawmaker stressed that he found it expedient to provide the consumeables especially for the vulnerable groups to address hunger strike in the area .

He told his constituents that , “it is no longer news that Anambra state have recorded her first corona virus case some few days ago. It is a sad reality that despite all efforts of the government of Anambra state, the deadly corona virus has found its way into our dear state. This is a disturbing fact and a threat to our continued existence as a people.”

” In view of the recent case, the state Government in a bid to manage the situation have declared a total lockdown of activities till the next 14 days.”

” In view of this, we are kindly requested to stay at home. No movement, no local transportation. The index case has been in the State since march 28th and has socialized extensively. This extreme restriction became necessary in order to identify and isolate primary and secondary contacts as well as ensure no further spread as the contact tracing is ongoing.”

He however recalled that he had earlier sensitized some key sectors of the economy and some other sensitive bodies like the church and security apparatus on the need to adhere to all preventive measures of corona virus and equally distributed some prevention kits like face masks, hand sanitizers, hand gloves and hand washing fonts.

According to him , ” in view of the lockdown which will unarguably affect daily income earners and destabilize homes and families, we have organized a response package to cushion this effects.”

” I have ordered an immediate release of food items to 2000 selected widows and other vulnerable groups in the 15 indigenous communities and Iyiowa, Odorubber, Okoti and Ogbeukwu of Ogbaru constituency II.”

” as your legislator and brother, I advice you to religiously abide by this lockdown directives as the government have stringent enforcement measures.”

The lawmaker equally encouraged well meaning Ogbaruans to rise up to the occasion, stressing they need each other now than ever before , just he admonished those who have to remember the have-nots as well as show love to one another and be united in the fight against the deadly virus.

He said , ” i once again advice us to adhere to all preventive measures as stipulated by the Federal Ministry of health, NCDC and Anambra state ministry of health. “

” We must remain calm as Government are in top gear to manage this situation. I also encourage all and sundry to pray that God heal our lands, that his mercy rest upon mankind and sanctify the human race as we join forces with constituted authorities to chase Covid19 into the abyss . ” Udeze stated .

The event was attended by traditional rulers , Presidents-General of the communities , ward chairmen and a host of other dignitaries while items shared were bags of rice , tubers of yam , garri , cartons of noodles , to mention a few of the Covid19 largesse given to the Less-Privileged and vulnerable persons in the constituency .
