COVID-19: Security agencies tasked to ensure compliance with govt directives in Anambra West
SECURITY Agencies in Anambra West Local Government Area have been urged to deal decisively with offenders of government directive on ban on social gatherings.
Transition Committee Chairmanof the area, Sylvester Orji-Okafor gave the order during an emergency security meeting with officers of Nigeria Police Force, Anambra West Command and Heads of local vigilance groups from 10 communities of the area.
The meeting was held at MmiataAnam Police post.
“As enforcers of the law, I want you to be alive and responsive to your duties as law officers; nothing stops you from ensuring total compliance to government directive.
“Meet with any person or persons who have scheduled any social event this season and stop it before hand. If the persons go on with the plan, such should be reported to me through the DPO for immediate action. This is to ensure there is no breach of law and order,” the chairman said.
Responding, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Anambra West, Mr Casmir Okolo, said that in spite of the ban on social gathering, some irresponsible elements still flout it.
He pledged to work with local vigilance groups to ensure total enforcement to this directive
