MRS Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) has extended a call to observe good personal hygiene to female students of tertiary institutions in the country.
The call was made during an empowerment programme and sensitisation/awareness campaign on personal hygiene sponsored by the Caring Enhancement Family Initiatives (CAFÉ)
The event was held at the female hostel of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, where the first lady tasked them to shun all harmful practices inimical to “a woman’s dignity” saying, “preserve your bodies until the right time for marriage and set aside anything that is detrimental to your studies”.
She equally urged them to place premium on observing good personal hygiene as a “healthy body begets a healthy and sound mind”.
Speaking further about the programme, the first lady who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on special duties to the governor, Mrs Amaka Ezike reiterated that the students should make their parents proud by living up to expectation and as such, should avoid extramarital relationship and shouldn’t jump into marriages but rather marriage should come up at the ideal time with the necessary marriage rites observed.
Mrs Ezike further said that the first lady was passionate about the education of the girl child and the empowerment of women; hence CAFÉ is extending her humanitarian initiatives for the development and betterment of women in every nook and crannies of the state.
In a collaborative effort with CAFÉ, the Student Union Government (SUG) Vice-president, Miss Gloria Ukpeli showered encomiums on the humanitarian initiatives of Mrs Obiano and her motherly role in shaping and molding young women in the state for the future. She went on to eulogise the first lady as a “mother who always hearkens to the call of her children”
