NATIONAL Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has been suspended from his position.
He was suspended yesterday on the orders of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court presided over by Justice Danlami Senchi in Jabi, Abuja. The order follows Oshiomhole’s membership suspension by his native Edo State Chapter of APC.
Justice Senchi gave the order while ruling on an interlocutory application filed by one Oluwale Afolabi on Thursday, January 16, in which Oshiomhole was named as first respondent. He also sued APC as the second respondent in the suit seeking Oshiomhole’s removal.
Oshiomhole was directed to step down pending the determination of the substantive suit seeking his ouster as APC chairman.
While Oshiomhole was ordered to stop parading himself as the chairman of the party, the ruling party was advised to stop acknowledging him as chairman and also refuse granting the former Edo State Governor access to its national secretariat.
But national headquarters of APC was agog yesterday when news of the order filtered in. Some staff celebrated the development while others were seen standing in small groups, discussing in hush tones.
