EDO State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has inaugurated a five man panel of Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the construction of, as well as the supply of equipment at the Edo Specialist Hospital, while the commission is headed by Justice James Oyomire.
The other members of the commission are Prof. Emmanuel Obaseiki-Ebor; Elizabeth Uwaifo; Hilary Igemohand Anthony Izevbekhae.
Meanwhile, the terms of reference for the commission as reeled out by the governor include, inquiry into all processes regarding the conceptualisation, design, construction and equipment supplies to the hospital.
The commission was also charged to review all processes related to how tenders for the award of the contracts were carried out, the execution and payments of all sums regarding the contracts, then make recommendations to the state government for actions.
Speaking at the inauguration in Government House, Benin City, the governor said the investigation was not to witch-hunt anybody but to present the truth to Edo people so they can know how their taxes were utilised in regards to the building of the hospital.
He said the state government can no longer ignore serious allegations raised but had carefully considered all the complaints filed against the setting up of the hospital, hence the constitution of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry.
The Chairman of the commission, Justice James Oyomire, promised that the commission would carry out the assignment effectively and in line with the stipulated terms of reference.
