ENUGU State Command of the Nigeria Police Force early this week paraded 29 suspected criminals whose offences ranged from kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, rape among others.
The State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdur-Rahman who paraded the suspects during his Monthly Press Briefing at the Command’s Headquarters, Enugu described the arrest as the command’s modest achievement in the Month of January, 2020.
C.P Abdur-Rahman said that the feat was made possible by the intelligence information, robust collaboration with sister security agencies, effective partnership and cooperation with other relevant stakeholders and the general public as well as the unalloyed loyalty, dedication and diligence of officers and men of the command.
He stated that the arrests were made from the Anti-Cultism Squad, CP Monitoring, Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SARS, among others.
According to him number of items recovered included, 13 Arms, one 0.9mm caliber Amonition, 10 live cartridges, 5 Expended cartridges. Others were; 4 cars, 2 Handsets, one toy gun, 3 laptops and one plasma TV.
Among the paraded suspects were Adamu Mohammed (AKA Suileman) from Taraba State, kingpin of the dare-devil kidnap gang who has been terrorizing Ebonyi and Enugu States. The gang according to the Enugu State Police boss were responsible for the kidnapping of the PDP Woman Leader of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State with her son and driver on December 21, 2019 along Enugu/Ugwuogo/Opi Nsukka Road, Mr. Ejike Vitus Ugwuanyi.
On January 14, 2020 at Obollo Afor, Rev Fr. Cyprian Ugwuanyi, Parish Priest of St. Paul Catholic Church, Ogbosu Umulokpa in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu Sate on January 10, 2020 along Ezeagu/UzoUwani Road and Mr. John Okoh with his mother and two sisters at the boundary between Umumba in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State and Ebenebe village in Anambra State.
Other members of the gang were; Musa Ibrahim from Katsina State and Dauda Alhaji from Nasarawa State. They were arrested at their various hideouts in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Items recovered from them were, one AK 47 rifle with 11 live ammunitions and three locally made long guns with 18 live ammunitions.
Paraded also were Vincent Ugwu, Elijah Onyebuchi, Ngozi Nnadi, Tochukwu Okoye, Nnenna Chukwu and Obinna among many others. Their offences rang from fraud, impersonation, conspiracy, child Trafficking and rape. Recovered items from them were Lexus 330 car with Registration No. Lagos MUS278GA, Toyots Solara with Registration No Lagos MUS419FSI, sum of Two Million Naira, one Sphygnanormeter, one Glucometer, three stethoscope, one ink pad and stamp bearing ESUT Teaching Hospital, one ward coat and one white shirt and one ID card Holder bearing the inscription ESUT/08/9161 (SNO.60).
CP Abdur-Rahman who used the opportunity to thank the people of Enugu State particularly, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his support for the Command warned criminals to flee Enugu State promising that the state will be too hot for them.
