Manchester United have made a move for Aston Villa transfer target Islam Slimani, according to reports.
The Daily Mail this morning have said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have made a shock enquiry about the availability of the Leicester City striker, who has also been linked with Villa this month.
But any move will cost them a £4 million loan fee.
Slimani is currently with AS Monaco and is enjoying the best form of his career since he made the £28 million move to City in 2016.
He has scored seven goals in 13 appearances in France’s top tier, recording seven assists too.
Monaco have a loan-to-buy agreement with City over Slimani, with Brendan Rodgers’ side looking to move the Algerian international on after an underwhelming three-and-a-half years at the King Power Stadium.
Slimani has netted just 13 goals in only 46 games for City and has also spent time out on loan at Newcastle United.
Monaco would like to be financially compensated should Slimani depart the principality side this month.
