IT was a moment of celebration and reminiscing of old time good memories as the class of 1996 of Anglican Girls Grammar School, Onitsha, held its second reunion at the East End Hotels, Awka.
In her welcome address, the president of the Old Girls Association, Mrs Ngozi Nworji Okparaku enumerated the challenges she encountered as a serving president and thanked all who played vital roles in making the event actualisable.
“I want to specially thank all who partook in organising this programme despite the visible challenges faced. I like to specifically commend the efforts of Comrade Ekene Njelita for her ludicrous character in making this possible”,’she stated.
Okparaku advised the incoming executives to show exemplary leadership as her administration comes to an end.
Meanwhile, voting was done in an impartial, democratic manner that saw the incumbent president retaining her elective post.
Speaking to our reporter on the sidelines, Okparaku expressed excitement over the decision of the group to retain her as the leader.
“I am glad that the general view of all was taken and it mandated me to lead for another tenure. According to the members of the class, I have shown great concern and exemplary leadership hence the need for continuity.
“We will achieve more to a reasonable extent if we are able to work with one mind. I have no doubts to pilot the affairs of the group and I believe that come next reunion, there would be laudable feats to count on.. “
The treasurer of the association, Ekene Njelita shared her views, “…the idea started few years back. I shared it and it met public approval. Since then, the joint walk to success has been the purpose to bring every person of Anglican Girls Grammar School, 1996 Set together to work together in achieving greater things that will be of impact to the society at large. ”
Another member who spoke at the occasion, Mrs Izoegwu Nonye, reiterated the need for massive participation of all to pursue a single goal; affecting lives in a positive way.
