MARY’S Catholic Church, Nnokwa, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was a beehive of activities as people from all walks of life thronged the community for the celebration of the Golden Wedding Jubilee and 75th birthday of two septuagenarians, Ide Mike Ojiakor and Chief Richard Okelu, amidst pomp and pageantry.
Archbishop Valerian Okeke of the Catholic Ecclesiastical Province of Onitsha presided over the Pontifical High Mass concelebrated by over 60 priests.
The prelate congratulated the celebrants for their blissful and very resourceful marriages while he admonished young couples to always love and be affectionate to each other for stable home, longevity and better society.
In the homily delivered by Rev. Fr. Pascal Onwugbenu, he lauded Ide and Lolo Rose Ojiakor, Rchard and his wife, Patricia Okelu, for leading exemplary lifestyles of humility, charity, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are enviable attributes and essential ingredients for successful marriage.
Rev. Fr. Onwugbenu urged the children of the celebrants to endeavour to emulate and uphold the unique legacies of their parents, who are devout Christians, acclaimed humanitarians, patriotic and selfless community leaders who continue to lead worthy and commendable lifestyles.
He further harped on the need for people, especially Christians to always look up to God and Lord Jesus Christ in everything they do in order to attract divine blessings as well as show empathy to fellow human beings.
Ide Ojiakor and his wife, expressed profound joy and gratitude to God for making it possible for them to celebrate their golden wedding jubilee while they also thanked Archbishop Okeke, clergymen and everybody present for gracing the occasion.
