EKITI State University, Ado Ekiti, has begun re-instatement of workers from the institution who were on December, 2019, disengaged from service.
The school management had cited over staffing, redundancy, low productivity and questionable qualification as reasons for laying off the affected staff.
A total of 355 workers were reabsorbed based on recommendation by the appeal panel set up by the school management.
The decision was ratified by the governing council of the school in a meeting held yesterday.
It would be recalled that 1173 staff were disengaged on December 5, 2019, which generated an outrage within and outside the state.
Interestingly, the panel recommended 355 staff for recall, while 497 were not recommended. Issues affecting 52 staff were not concluded, while 15 were retired with 254 staff refusing to appeal
