Well, at least Arsenal fans were keeping tabs on the situation as they looked for any clues ahead of his return to the Emirates Stadium.
It’s just matter of time before the Spaniard leaves his position as Pep Guardiola’s assistant head coach at the Etihad Stadium to step out on his own and succeed Unai Emery in North London.
As reported by football.london, the Gunners are set to appoint Arteta as their new head coach as the search to find Emery’s successor is nearing a conclusion following almost three weeks with Freddie Ljungberg in an interim role.
However, the Premier League champions claim that the North London outfit are still to make contact.
The Manchester Evening News reports that City are adamant a deal has not been agreed with the Gunners, however football.london understand that Arsenal have indeed reached an agreement with Arteta.
It’s also understood that only paperwork and some fine details stand between the 37-year-old and his unveiling as the head coach.
No timescale has been set for when this will be complete, but the Gunners are hoping to make an announcement by the end of the week.
That would be just in time for the Gunners’ trip to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s 3-0 loss at the hands of Man CITY
