Obiano named governor of the year 2019
ANAMBRA State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has been selected as Nigeria’s governor of the year 2019.
In a poll conducted by a body of eminent journalists in Nigeria and United Kingdom (UK), Dr. Obiano was returned ahead of others as the best helmsman os states in Nigeria.
A release to this effect states thus: “The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), a reputable professional body and a foremost vanguard for democracy, justice and good governance, in partnership with UK-based Afri-Serves International (Media and Development) Centre and with patronage of the Presidency (OSSAP, PSIN) have taken the bold initiative of co-hosting the maiden edition of Integrity and Public Service Merit Awards (IPSMA) 2019.
The prestigious annual fiesta seeks to provide strong impetus of promoting patriotism, selfless service and good governance amongst deserving Nigerian political leaders, eminent corporate citizens, technocrats and continent’s best achievers in areas of national and global development.”
Continuing, the release further states that “pursuant to this and in cognisance of your outstanding commitment to these noble ideals, you (Gov. Obiano) have been unanimously endorsed by the IPSMA – PROJECT Management Council as IPSMA Governor of the Year 2019.”
According to IPSMA, the nomination of Gov. Obiano “was purely based on merit and sequel to direct voting polls by 1,500 editors and top rated journalists across 15 African nations (mostly Nigerians) and UK, coordinated by Messrs Afri-Serves UK (vis direct mails, skype, video conferencing and WhatsApp) over a period of 60 days.”
The release was signed by Co-Chairman of PMC and President of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo and PMC Coordinator, Dr. Muhammad A. Ibrahim.
The award will be presented later in the year.
