Man bags 12yrs for killing girlfriend
ANOTHER person suspected to have a hand in the recent murder of late President-General of Nimo Brotherhood Society (NBS), in Njikoka Local Government Area and one-time member of Anambra House of Assembly, Chief Frank-Anthony Igboka.
This brings to five the number of people already arrested in connection with the murder, to ensure all those suspected to be involved in the crime have been apprehended.
Special Adviser to Gov. Obiano on Security and Safety, Mr. Chikodi Anara, disclosed this in a press conference at Government House, Awka, yesterday.
It will be recalled that gunmen had in April shot dead the ex-lawmaker near his office at Oye Nimo Market Square, while he was returning from a meeting.
“All those involved in the killing of the ex-lawmaker have been rounded up. They are all in the Police net, waiting for prosecution. None is spared,” Anara said.
Similarly, a Lagos State High Court siting in Igbosere, yesterday, sentenced a 46-year-old man to 12 years imprisonment for causing the death of his girlfriend, Tina Toroso.
The convict who was identified as Tunde Omisakin had been charged with culpable homicide, sometime in 2010, for allegedly cutting the right hand of his girlfriend with a cutlass which resulted to her death, in contravention of Section 317 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2003.
He was later re-arraigned on February 16, 2016 before Justice Adedayo Akintoye when the former judge handling the case retired, but this time on one-count charge of manslaughter for which he pleaded not guilty before being remanded in prison.
