Mood lift in Awka over installation of traffic lights
Anambra State Government with a view to reduce road congestion these Ember months, installed traffic lights in some parts of the state capital.
With just few days to the installation of the traffic lights, different views have continued to spring up both from pedestrians, commercial and private drivers who regularly ply the roads, and those who have their businesses located at those areas. While some commended the government of the state led by Chief Willie Obiano for deeming it fit to put traffic lights, stating that they had been looking forward for this development, others kicked against it, insisting that it’s not necessary.
Paul Obikaeze, a commercial bus driver was delighted, saying, “With the traffic lights in place, there will be orderliness and patience for some drivers who are always impatient which often results to un-necessary and avoidable delays which often ends with insult .
A journalist, Mike Ovat, on his part said, “it is a welcome development. He however suggested that serious measures should be taken to make sure that motorists abide and respect the traffic lights, pointing out that road users, especially commercial drivers need more orientation and enlightenment.
