MINORITY Leader and Member representing Ekwusigo Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Onyebuchi Agustine Offor has called on the commissioner of Police, Anambra State, to instruct the various area commands in the state and DPO’s of all the Local Government Areas (LGA) in the state to address the menace by men of the police force who mount at different roads of the state.
Onyebuchi, who is the Chairman, House Committee on security and police affairs, before seconding the motion on adjournment at plenary, frowned at the attitudes of police men in Nnewi and Oraifite axis saying,“there is no day that we don’t witness police men with their patrol vehicle stationed at a corner for stop and search, especially in the rural areas, while extorting money from motorist and commercial drivers publicly in the process.
“My father was a police officer and I grow up in the barracks. What I am seeing now concerning police men is different from what I used to see those days. The decorum in the police job has been dragged to the mud. As a son of a police officer, I am ashamed. Let the commissioner of police take drastic actions.’
