ANAMBRA State House of Assembly Committee on Civil Service Organisation is to partner the office of Head of Service (HOS), to promote transparent and effective implementation of government policies.
This is the outcome of familiarisation visit by the committee members to the HOS at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
The committee, expected to oversee labour matters and establishment, is one of the 29 committees set up by the 7th Assembly to perform oversight functions on MDAs and the parastatals.
Speaking during the visit, the committee chairman and member representing Nnewi South Constituency II, Mr. Johnbosco Akaegboli, described their visit as friendly one, while thanking the HOS for his warm reception.
He noted that the oversight functions intended by the committee include transparency and true service to the people of Anambra State.
Member of the committee and Majority Leader of the House, Nnamdi Okafor, said, the oversight function was for effective service delivery to ndi Anambra.
The lawmaker enjoined staff of the HOS to work well with the committee, while promising support from the government through the Assembly for job effectiveness.
Receiving the committee, Udu said, he was satisfied with the new development in the 7th Assembly.
He described the committee’s oversight function as a welcome development, assuring them of his readiness to work for the good of the state.
The civil service boss shed more light on the workings of the service for better understanding of the committee.
Other committee members in attendance include, Deputy Chairman of the committee and member representing Ogbaru Constituency, Noble Igwe, member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Onyebuchi Offor and that of Oyi Constituency, Chinedu Obimma and other top government officials.
