Klopp makes bold claim about ‘fantastic’ Bruce

Ahead of their meeting at Anfield, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has stated that Steve Bruce has been ‘fantastic’ since becoming Newcastle manager.
It’s been an up and down start for Bruce. The pressure on his shoulders has been huge since day one, with every move he makes put under the microscope.
But he’s managed to get four points on the board from the first four games, getting his first win as Toon boss away to Tottenham.
The Magpies face an even tougher away day this weekend, taking on European champions Liverpool. And ahead of the game, Klopp has given Bruce a positive assessment of his start at St James’ Park.
“For Steve, for sure, a difficult job. Following after Rafa is probably never easy but in this specific case, really difficult,” the German told

“He did fantastic so far, really fantastic. Close games, okay the one against Norwich maybe not too nice but since then close games and good results as well.”
While Bruce has been heavily criticised at times, Klopp’s assessment is pretty fair. Most of our games this season have been close, bar the trip to Norwich where we were abysmal.
We held our own against Arsenal until things massively unravelled in the second half. Tottenham was a fantastic team performance. And the draw against Watford should really have been a win.
But we will face our toughest task of the season so far against Liverpool. The Reds are top of the league with a 100% record. To make matters worse, Newcastle haven’t won at Anfield for 25 years.
I don’t think we’ll be ending that horror run this afternoon…
