Award honours statesmen who made impact on society as youth and young achievers

UNITED Youth Leaders for Development Initiative, a non governmental and non profit making organisation, also popularly known as the Global Youth Representatives will host the maiden edition of her Young Achievers’ Award.

According to a statement issued by the President of  the body, Victor Nwaeze, prominent persons comprising leaders of Nigeria and budding young leaders will be honoured in the hold in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Saturday, August 31.

He disclosed that the award, which fetes young persons who made impressions on society and older personalities who made marks in society in their youth, elder statesmen whose records motivate the new generation, as well as outstanding young people who have made impacts in the society.

“It also recognises and honours those who have played meaningful roles in the prosperity and development of Africa at large, as well as youths who have shown exceptional success in areas of creativity, leadership and politics, entrepreneurship and social development,” he added.

Comrade Victor, in the statement, further disclosed that the award ceremony will feature several outstanding young people,   elder statesmen as former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon; former Governor of Abia State, Sen.Orji Uzor Kalu; the newly appointed,

Minister of Niger Delta, and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; the youngest speaker in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin; the youngest Deputy Governor in the country and Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Mr. Mahadi Aliyu Gusau, among  others.

Others in the list of The Young Achievers Award 2019 comprise the writer, Izunna Okafor, staff of National Light Newspapers, who vividly promotes communication in Igbo Language, Nancy Nnaji, of Money Online with Nancy on African Independent Television, (AIT); Human Capacity Builder and founder, Joelitic Big Corazon Charity Foundation, Engr. Joseph Akpan; Founder of Discourse Forum and Alamajiri Child Right Initiative, Mr. Yusuf Usman, among 14 others.

Mr Okafor, author of five books and initiator of the yearly Chinua Achebe Literary Festival is a lead reporter in National Light’s award winning Igbo Language newspaper, ‘Ka O Di Taa’. He describes his nomination for the award as a “big surprise”.
