Onwughalu urges establishment of carbondioxide plant in Anambra
FORMER Awka Zonal Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association and Medical Director, Zion Hospital Nawfia, Oliver Onwughalu has commended the Governor Willie Obiano administration for commissioning the ultra modern oxygen gas plant at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka.
Dr. Onwughalu, who gave the indication while speaking to the press at Nawfia, noted the imperatives of the oxygen plant, the first of its kind in the South East geo-political zone in saving the lives of sick patients and for other purposes.
He urged the state government to redouble its efforts to establish more of related industries such as building a carbon dioxide plant which can be harvested from the atmosphere for industrial purposes.
The former NMA boss expects the governor to ensure that his administration perfects the execution of the state health insurance scheme for the benefit of its beneficiaries and the pilot licensed hospitals which have keyed into the scheme.
On his part, the sttae deputy chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association Dr. Jide Onyekwelu urged the Anambra State Government to pay attention towards improving the manpower and remuneration of the medical personnel at the public hospitals to ensure qualitative health care delivery in the state.
According to Dr. Onyekwelu, efforts should be made by government to reduce the taxation burden placed on private medical practitioners who are offering qualitative and meaningful health care deliver to the citizenry.
