Another docked for stealing N378m
A MAN identified as Suleiman Mohammed, 33, was yesterday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly raping an unidentified 10-year-old girl.
Mohammed was docked on a two-count charge of rape and threat to life, which according to prosecution counsel, ASP Akpan Nkem, contravened sections 168 and 56 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, adding that he committed the offence between April 27 and August 11 at Awolola Street, Adele Era, Ijanikin area of Lagos, by defiling the young girl and also threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
But Magistrate Patrick Adekomiya admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, after Mohammed pleaded not guilty, before the case was adjourned until September 16, for hearing.
Equally, a project manager working for Lagos-based construction company, one Olowe Joseph Adeoye, 42, was also arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Igbosere for allegedly stealing construction materials valued N378 million.
He allegedly carted those materials from the firm’s construction site at Ilubirin House Project in Ikoyi.
The offences were contrary to Sections 411, 280(1)(b) and punishable under Section 278 of the Criminal laws of Cap. C17, Vol. 11, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015. But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, and was admitted to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in the same sum.
The matter has been adjourned until September 2 for hearing.
